How to change log level in Mattermost

1. Log in to Mattermost and go to System Console

2. Under the Environment tab select Logging

3. From here you can change the Console Log Level and File Log Level to INFO, DEBUG, or ERROR.  This setting determines the level of detail at which log events are written to the log file. ERROR: Outputs only error messages. INFO: Outputs error messages and information around startup and initialization. DEBUG: Prints high detail for developers working on debugging issues.

Mattermost support will often ask for debug logs for an issue as part of troubleshooting.  This usually indicates changing the File Log Level to DEBUG and then attempting the process again.
